GUIDATA is a form of sociometric data. In online synchronous interaction which is not serial in nature, but more parallel and super-synchronous, many interactions occur at the same time. The LBD environment collects who addressed a message to whom. This is called a directed message. The GUIDATA is a graphical description of who spoke to whom as a function of time. The patterns indicate how some of the breakout groups tend to interact more among themselves then with the whole group.Attending is defined both as being there and as paying attention or being attentive. Attentiveness is quantified as the frequency with which participants actively poll the server for the data generated since their last request. This data is collected when the participant clicks on the Listen button, which refreshes their screen with posts from the other participants.Participation is defined as the state of being related to a larger whole. Participation is quantified as the number of messages containing a communication sent by participants. This data is collected when the participant clicks on the Talk button, posting their comment, drawing, and other forms of communication into the LBD LearningRoom.Archives are made available as soon as the eClass session is over.
