About Us

Mia Lobel, M. Ed., is the co-founder, President, and CEO of Learningbydoing, Inc.  Mia is a Part Time Faculty member at Concordia University for over twenty years, and a psychotherapist in private practice for over twenty-five years.  Mia has been online for eight years in various chat rooms, poetry groups, and instant messaging communities.

Her areas of work experience include organizational change, diversity training, community building, group diagnosis and intervention, crisis management, negotiation/mediation skills, stress management and conflict resolution.  The design of the LBD LearningRoom, MeetingRoom and Offices is the result of Mia’s online experience and teaching expertise in “Interpersonal Communications and Relationships”, “Interpersonal and Group Dynamics”, “Approaches to Social Problems”, “Theories and Principles of Counseling” and “Computer Mediated Communication and Relationships.” Mia is on the board of directors of the Montreal Sexual Assault Center, and co-founder of the Pregnancy Termination Unit at Montreal General, the Woman’s Information and Referral Services of Montreal, and the Montreal Woman’s Center. Mike Neubauer, MSEE,  is a co-founder of Learningbydoing, Inc, and Executive Vice President.  Mike is an Engineering Physicist at Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, Stanford, California, and an international consultant.  Mike has been online for over twenty-years, and has experience with both analog and digital collaboration tools.  Mike has also been involved with distance education for over forty years;  from early science projects and public and private TV courses to the LBD eClassroom.  For the last three years, Mike has been telecommuting from Montreal to California.

Mike  has implemented innovative computerized processes in a variety of scientific disciplines since 1980, and is an expert in finite element programs used to model complex electron beam and microwave interactions in linear beam devices.  He has written a number of papers in Linear Collider technology as well as distance education. Mike loves to work with raw data, and developed the GUIDATA perl program  to display interactions in real-time between participants in the LBD environments.  Mike's LBD office. John Gull is a founding partner in Learningbydoing, Inc.  Johnny is the developer of Learningbydoing's real-time software and creator of LBD's Learning Room, eClassroom, Meeting Room, and Offices.  Johnny's experience in web based interactive software cover's the entire breadth of this genre over the last ten years in the software industry.  Johnny has consulted and worked for many of the start-ups and institutional members of  Silicon Valley, and  is currently completing the beta version of LBD's new Learning Room.

Judith Grad, MA Human Systems Intervention, is on the PT Faculty at Concordia University, Montreal, and a Life Skills Counselor in private practice. She is an LBD Instructor, Facilitator, and Technical Administrator. Susan Dinan, MA Human Systems Intervention is the Interim Manager, Centre for Human Relations and Community Studies. Myrna Sauza is an LBD Facilitator. Myrna joined the team in 2003. 

After completing a Bachelors degree in Translation in Mexico City, Myrna continued her career development to become a Natural Health Consultant, which she completed successfully with a major in Inter-dimensional Healing.

She is certified as a Spiritual Psychotherapist, as well as in Reiki and Massage Therapy by the Institute of Natural Health Consultants. In her private practice she works with nutritional coaching, cranio-sacral and energy work. She is experienced in the Core Energetics model and she has been consulting/coaching people for the last seven years in body-mind awareness.

She has continued her education to become a Certified Coach with the Life Coach Training Institute in U.S.A. as well as at Concordia University towards a Certificate in Family Life education, where she facilitates in the subjects of Interpersonal Communication and Relationships, as well as Working with Task Groups.

Her goal is the enhanced well being of people be it on a personal or professional level and her commitment is to educate people on work-life balance and inspire them in the importance of following their dreams and fulfilling their potential, through workshops and in her private practice.

Ellen Lee, MEd, has been in private practice as a coach and trainer since 1992, working primarily in the area of personal and career development. Ellen joined the LBD team in 2005. 

Her background includes formal coach training from The Coaches Training Institute, and participation in the Human Interaction Laboratory, an intensive experiential train-the-trainer program in the area of interpersonal and group dynamics, given through Concordia University's Centre for Human Relations and Community Studies.


Ellen has developed and facilitated workshops for corporate, community, and educational organizations. She is an Emploi-Québec accredited trainer, qualifying businesses who retain her services to receive a tax credit toward their 1% training investment obligation. 

She is trained in the administration and interpretation of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, a widely used assessment tool with applications in such areas as career coaching, personal and relationship counselling, team building, and communication and leadership training. A former teacher and communications consultant, she has worked behind the scenes in public relations, radio, publishing, and media relations.  

Ellen's passion is helping others achieve their personal and professional goals so they can have the life they want and deserve.
